Hestmander
This is a Norwegian museum ship that visited Stromness and Kirkwall, Orkney, then went on to Aberdeen and is on the way to Leith (24/05/2025). Well worth a visit. It was a cargo ship in both world wars, surviving bomb and torpedo attacks. The panels inside explain how the seafarers, many who would suffer from PTSD, had very difficult lives post war, derided as workshy or drunkards, and had difficulty finding work, getting mortgages etc. I think the UK could do more to remember the merchant navy and the horrors faced by the men. I recommend a visit. It may well sail further south after Leith.
