Tucklesholme Nature Reserve
This is a quiet, lesser known, reserve run by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, just south of Burton on Trent.
The cloudy day doesn’t show it in its best light and it was quiet when I called in briefly on my way home from lunch with my niece and her family at Walton upon Trent.
If you look in the top right corner, you may spot another problem. HS2 may have been cancelled but the wanton destruction of our Staffordshire countryside has yet to regenerate. Two hefty diggers don’t suggest they’ve left it alone yet, but a new bridge is apparently going to be built.
Have you heard of Bearded Theory ?
I hadn’t. There were warnings of congestion caused by this event at Catton Hall, but I was nosey, and took the back way to The Swan. It felt as though I was motoring through Glastonbury in full flow. I’ve never seen so many fields full of cars, camper vans, tents, portaloos etc etc.
Apparently it’s an independent music festival. I googled it in the pub. It’s an annual event lasting five days. Prices are high and it’s clearly very popular. News to me, yes, but I got more conscious of my age as I perused the line up. Masses of groups and acts, but the only one I’d heard of was Iggy Pop. Doesn’t it make you feel old !!
The family lunch was lovely. We mustn’t leave it so long between get-togethers…..
Extra…..poached egg plants
