Sea Campion ( Silene Uniflora)
Some heavy rain overnight for us and in the morning some light showers.
Overcast and quite humid for our walk this afternoon but thankfully no rain.
Saw quite a few clumps of this pretty sea campion.
Apparently Sea Campion is also known as Dead Man's Bells, Devil's Hatties or Witches thimbles, and the folklore goes that it's unlucky to pick the flowers or that picking them invites death to come calling. This could be because they can grow on steep cliff faces where you might fall!
Thankfully this clump was not in such a position.
