A curled up fern

We went up to Arlington Court this morning - expecting rain but we were fortunate and had a dry walk around the woodland trail, and a look in the walled gardens.  This curled up fern appealed as I have agreed to talk to a local WI type group about photography and I wanted something to show a detail rather than a whole plant.

Hopefully, they will understand what I am getting at :-)

A young lad (guess 5 ish) came over to ask what we were photographing and was very interested in Gill's explanation of how the fern uncoiled like fingers opening out from a fist ... following her hand with his own :-)
He then went on to explain how far he had walked around the trail and how far yet to go back to his mum's car. 

Thanks to everyone who has called in on my journal over the past few days, we're away to Charmouth tomorrow to meet up with our daughter and her family.
