Female Scaeva pyrastri

This hoverfly is a female Scaeva pyrastri. Her abdomen looks flat, wrinkled and empty so I presume her job is now done. The next generation will be soon on the go helping to reduce the aphid population.
I presume her poor condition was why she allowed me to poke my little compact camera within a couple of inches of her face.

This individual is having a wash-and-brush-up on a ragwort flower (Jacobaea vulgaris aka Senecio jacobaea)

And I can't close without saying thank you everyone for yesterday's stars and hearts. Much appreciated.
