Gardening

We filled our last constructed bed today. We hauled and shoveled three yards of good soil for these two beds. Probably our last two beds for this season. Tomorrow we will plant tomatoes, cukes, bush beans, and squash. A good gardening day.

I have to tell you this one. We have been having some water issues on one of our lines. This morning, I was on my hands and knees at our meter, which is about five feet off of our gravel road, trying to read the meter. As I knelt in the grass, trying to read the tiny meter readings, I heard a different sound, one that I finally recognized as bicycle tires on gravel. A rider approached, and he asked, “Are you OK?”

Surprised, I made eye contact with him, and said, “Yes, I am fine. I’m just looking at my water meter. But thanks for asking.”

He said sure. Hell, I definitely would have asked myself seeing an old man on his hands and knees five feet from the road. I’m glad he checked on this old man.
