WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

I didn’t take a photo yesterday (Saturday) as I had the most awful headache and just spent the day on the sofa. Paracetamol didn’t help.
I looked up the side effects of the dilating fluid for eyes and sure enough it said it can cause headaches.
Frank had brought our old photos down, we hadn’t looked at them for years.
These photos in my Blip are from The Red Sea but my first time ever to go snorkelling was on the Great Barrier Reef. Spectacular!
Snorkelling became my obsession when we were on holiday and I only wanted to visit countries where I could see beautiful sea life.
I had charts and books about fish and ticked off all the fish and corals I had seen.
I can’t swim but with a life jacket on I would go anywhere no matter how deep the reef went, sometimes it was like looking down an underwater
Mountain side. In really deep bits I would link arms with Frank and once we swam around a ship wreck where we couldn’t even see the bottom of the ship. At first I was a bit scared but then I saw below the deck, a shoal of Baracuda and we saw them close up. They didn’t do anything just followed us with their eyes.
I have such happy memories of those holidays, the excitement of seeing
cute wee Clown Fish, brightly coloured Parrot Fish, a Moray Eel and the massive Napoleon Wrasse (green fish at the top of the chart) which was almost the same size as me! I fell in love with one and followed him for ages on day. He just looked at me and swam on ahead.
I am smiling as I write this.
I wonder if I’ll ever snorkel again…

:-) X
