Mamma's Place
I felt a lot better this morning, not 100% yet, but better than yesterday. I even went for a walk over the park this morning, where I took this blip. It was grey, cold and windy, but it didn't put these people off buying their ice creams.
We are out tonight to see Sir Tim Rice in his show, My Life in Musicals in the Millennium Centre. There is a big band, plus some West End singers performing the songs, with Tim giving his anecdotes about writing the lyrics in between. I'm really looking forward to seeing the man who wrote the lyrics to Joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, The Lion King, plus many others.
I've always admired Sir Tim, not just for being one of the world's greatest lyricists, but because of his love of pop music. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of chart music from about the mid 50s, to the mid 80s, which is sort of my specialist subject. He is even responsible, as part of a team, for writing the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles, the first edition which I bought on its release in 1977, and still treasure to this day. A truly remarkable man.
