View across the hay meadows to Semerwater

A lovely walk from Bainbridge to Semerwater and back via the Roman road. A day of sunshine and showers with a strong cold wind. We drove onto Hawes and finished the day with a visit to the Wensleydale Creamery. Some purchases were made!

Semerwater is a pleonastic place name, using more words or parts of words than is necessary for clear meaning. The name derives from the Old English elements 'sae' (lake), 'mere' (lake), and 'water' (lake). If you call it Lake Semerwater that adds another one to the mix!
