Cemetery Sunday
or Blessing of the Graves.
Today in Shanganagh.
Hordes of people; a Mass; singing; everyone remembering their loved one. A lot of chatting (death is a great leveller … sceptre and crown come tumbling down etc); but after a heavy shower of rain, just at the right time, the clouds parted and a huge group of people were united in honouring and praying for their lost loved one.
I have to be honest, I love this. I enjoyed every minute. I remembered my darling husband with so much love and affection and this year is his 10th anniversary. Chatting to strangers whose loved ones are interred nearby. The blue cloudy sky; the local choir singing; the graveyard picnics; I felt happy and sad all at once.

Early swim at 7am
Tennis at 11 - partnered with Marian versus Liz (my bestie) and Angela. Close fought but we took the 2 sets.
If I’m still awake, I’ll be watching Top Gun Maverick on Film4 at 9. I’ve waited a long time to see it.
(French Open is starting next week - do any blippers know how to watch).
And listen to this classic….
