My treat on the way home today was to visit Grimes Graves Neolithic flint mines. I’ve been wanting to visit for years, particularly since they opened up Shaft 1 to the public. It was amazing and I had the shaft to myself, having donned my hard hat and descended the steel stairs. Meanwhile Mr DA and Hector went for an above ground walk around the lunar landscape of ancient mine shafts (which I did afterwards).

A lot more exciting than Mr DA’s treat which was to visit an Edward VIII letterbox in St Albans afterwards.
