Playing the conditions...

Our men's second team handed out a 3-1 beating to Reigate this morning. The weather was challenging for playing, with alternating bright sunshine and clouds, and really strong swirling wind.

Nick, who has appeared on this page before, has a howitzer of a serve when he's on song, but he was savvy enough to lower his ball toss to minimise the problem with the wind.

A youngster on the Reigate team obviously had an equally potent serve, but he persisted with throwing the ball up into the stratosphere, with predictable results - and of course, the more he did it, the more frustrated he became, and the more mistakes he made.

It's such a simple game when you're sitting on the lawn watching :-)
