There's Always Sunshine after Rain
Looks like the farmer might be letting this field lie fallow this year. The dandelion, Taraxacum officinale, is not native to North America but was brought here by Europeans, probably as a contaminant of their seed stocks, but maybe on purpose because dandelions are perfectly edible. They are also a diuretic, captured perfectly by the French who call them 'pissenlit'. When I was a child, you couldn't pick a dandelion without some other kid shouting out 'You'll wet the bed'. I wonder if they still do that? Cultrual traditions die hard, even if they get a little distorted over time.
Horrible weather these last few days, windy, wet and cold, seems to be over at last.
