Nothing like Patriotic Cupcakes...

About a week ago we finally got the diagnoses on what my mom is dealing with. To start with, vascular dementia along with the likelihood of Alzheimer's and other things.. Of course everything is progressive too. My sister and I along with her doctor agreed to take her off medications that really no longer will give her any benefit of quality of life. After a few weeks we plan on changing a few other medications to see if we can get her to have a bit more quality of life but we are told that won't be likely but we are going to try. Of course no change in pain meds.

Because of the Memorial Day holiday in America, I brought my mom these mini  cupcakes today. She loved them so much she ate 9 of the 12 in the package. Although she recognized me, she was mostly mumbles today. When I was about to leave I let her know her daughter was going to stop by later on this week. She asked who? I don't think she full understood who but I tried very hard to let her know. I have read that in person recognition is more important than just names but.. Hopefully she will be having a good day when my sister does visit. I am grateful that she wasn't in pain, still has an okay appetite, tries to carry on with the little things and..  still seeing the progression is very hard.. oh she slept more today too..

On a happier note - in the extra is another game Tiger and I play - A few Q-tips on the counter - Tiger loves to bat them around and on to the ground of course. I can pick them up 5 or 6 times before Tiger moves on to something else. With it being a Federal Holiday tomorrow but still no replacement cards yet from the bank, I will be staying home keeping the cash I have on hand knowing it will be needed during the week. I hope every one tomorrow pauses to thank those who gave all - right or wrong for our country... including the pacifist - who stood for their beliefs...
