We made it!
I'm delighted to report that despite the inclement weather today, we all made it to the Finish Line and earnt our medal!! It was an awesome 12km course and entailed walking the Freeway and going through the Graham Farmer Tunnel before making our way past Optus Stadium and Crown Casino and returning to the Gloucester Park Trotting Track. There were thousand in the event and the atmosphere was unbelievable. I couldn't think of a more joyful way to celebrate my 77th birthday. I'm so blessed to be healthy enough to contemplate a 12km walk!! I never take my health for granted. Mauzee and our great mates Genie and Becky celebrated at the Breakfast Bar in Mount St afterwards and at the end of our meal Genie surprised me by producing the most magnificent Carrot Cake, laden with candles. Such a wonderful surprise and so generous of spirit. It made its way to Perth all the way from Augusta unscathed. I'm thrilled to report that through our efforts we have raised over $1,645 for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. (I have added an extra of Genie's spectacular Carrot Cake)
PS - I have just backflipped the past three days if you're interested :). It had been a bit of a battle to be match fit for the big event as we were both fighting a bit of a health challenge to be ready for the walk. Happy to say we came good just in time!!
