Turkish Jeep Safari
A fairly calm, but cloudy day, with sunny spells. A sunny but windy evening, flat calm again.
Up early, the Jeep Safari tour picked us up after breakfast. We headed through the towns, getting to back roads. First stop was at Şihlar, a lovely café and old bridge. Back on the road to Sapadere, where we swam in the river coming down the gorge. That water was baltic, but so refreshing. Headed to the caves at Cüceler, then a stop for souvenirs and lunch. Back to the hotel by teatime. A quiet evening at the hotel.
A great day out, although I wouldn't quiet call it a safari, nor off road touring, but it was still fun on those small winding back roads. Things sure are more relaxed here with safety standards. To start, our seat belts didn't work. Standing up and hanging over the rollbars was encouraged, also a lot of fun, and then there was the photographer. He switched between the the vehicles, usually perched on top snapping away. At one point, he was almost snoozing, as we zoomed through the forest roads. The roads in Turkey really aren't for driving on either, not even sure if they know what they are doing, tailgating, using wrong lanes etc. Glad we've not hired a car this year. Snoozey photographer, up the hills near Şihlar, Alanya, Turkey.
