Serica

In the late 60s and early 70s we visited the Scilly Isles on a number of occasions for our summer holidays.  They were the most relaxing holidays you could imagine.  Leave the car at Penzance and fly over on the BEA helicopter service.  Virtually no cars on the islands - just a few tractors.  Transport was on foot or by boat.
This is a model of the gig Serica that I bought on one of our trips.
A gig was as a general work boat but also took pilots out to incoming vessels off the Atlantic Coast. Back in the 19th century pilots would compete with each other for work; the gig crew who got their pilot on board a vessel first would get the job, and hence the payment.
Nowadays the gigs are purely racing boats with a six man team rowing them.  Most weekends there was some kind of event being held - and it was very competitive.
