Weather-proof
Back to volunteering today. It has been a very windy and wet day but fortunately this morning whilst I volunteered the weather was at its calmest. We worked outside weeding amongst the broad beans, planting out lettuces and harvesting the last of the leeks. The size of the weeds was staggering and was a good preparation for the amount of growth I witnessed at the allotment when I visited it for a quick peek this afternoon. The wind and rain were so strong by then I didn’t attempt to do anything other than quickly cut some asparagus and pick the first ripe strawberries of the year.
Any how, volunteering was enjoyable despite the weather. With just three of us being present today we were able to chat as we worked and then some more over morning tea and cake - cherry sponge today.
My blip today show foxgloves growing near the fruit orchard. I couldn’t help but stop to admire them. They seem to be so resilient to the gusts of wind and rain buffeting them in all directions.
