Getting Set Up

This evening we had our first session on pet photography as part of our camera club "Summer School", led by two of our members - one of whom has a strong interest in the subject and another who is especially good with studio lighting and portrait photography. Between them they made an excellent team!

My main blip shows one of three setups being constructed, using two strobe lights - one producing a "butterfly" type of illumination along with a snoot light to produce rim illumination (the latter is off to the right, not shown in the photo). We also had a setup using a speedlight with a softbox and another with continuous illumination.

This week we were just practising, with soft toy models as you can see (the extra is a shot I took with the setup shown in my main blip). Next week (on Thursday, not our usual Tuesday) we'll have live dogs... could be interesting (and noisy!).
