Little Lucy Among the Long Legs

2 days in a row for me at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Most of the crowds were gone, burials were being performed, and "my" sand-hill cranes were back. It looks like they only have one baby this year, and it looks like I missed the baby phase. Little Lucy looks to be a toddler by now.

I have to be real careful when shooting them. I'd like to get closer, but when I try, they start heading for the exit, which in this case is the neighboring woods.

The cranes are good parents, with both mom and dad getting worms and grubs to feed little Lucy. As I was watching, the little one is beginning to seek out grubs for herself...which the parents like to see.

My just annoying cold won't go away, but I don't feel too bad. Lisa worked today, so I spent most of the day in my den, mapping out another Detroit Tigers painting.
