Further my skills

Finally

Lately I wrote about the glass fibre connection we finally got after a very long time. Today I switched our router to the new net. Took me some time to adjust everything, but I managed to get all up and running. And much faster.

My entry today is of the new water softener. We already had an issue with the previous one. Another brand, with only a limited number of "experts", so horrendously high prices. We wanted one part replaced but the difference between eBay and craftsman price, without installation, was just too high. Nevertheless, we ordered a replacement by one of the local plumbers, but they never delivered, not even after the third time asking.
We then contacted another plumber, who would install another softener because he could only maintain that brand. We asked him for a price offer, three times, no success. Then, after the old softener start leaking and needed a complete replacement, he finally sent us a quote. We agreed, and ordered two other jobs to be done too. Well, yesterday the new softener was installed. The other two jobs were forgotten again, but one was done immediately, the other needed some hardware and will be done "soon".

Our water hardness is around 20 °dH, which is ± 357 ppm, 24.96 °e (= °Clark). The softener will try to reduce that to 5 °dH. I assume we will start to use more salt again :)
