NEW BRIDGE AT ROAD AMERICA DEDICATION

In fact......this shot was made this morning after 5 hours of fooling around in Photoshop.  Technically, this is a composite of two separate images.

When the assembled group made its way to the photo site they were standing on the main track east of the jersey barriers.  I was told that the pizza part of the bridge was most important so I advised that the group really outta be on the false grid on the other side of the barriers.  That advice was ignored because some people thought it was too much trouble to get to that side.

I had a 24mm lens on and was standing on a good sized ladder that was pre-positioned.  I was as wide as possible and couldn't get in the entire bridge and all the people.  I shot it as tightly as I could but the final result, when looked at this morning by the people in charge, was deemed inadequate.

Fortunately, the day before I made a shot of the entire bridge from the starter's platform using the 600mm lens.  I have not had a lot of experience with combining two images but after 5 hours of fooling around I figured out how to select the people from last evening's shot, cut them out and place them, onto the image of the entire bridge.  It is far from perfect but the powers that be were pleased.

The lesson to be learned here is....LISTEN to the photographer when he tells you the group has to move.

BEST IN LARGE.
