Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Went through to Barrow again this morning - third day on the trot. Took me back fifteen years to when I used to work there and did the journey five days a week.
Today’s trip was - like the other two trips - guitar related. Specifically, I wanted Stuart’s input on what I might do with the new project guitar.
As you can see from the picture, the main issue is how dirty this guitar is. Most of what you see in the picture will be replaced whatever, but the jury is still out on what to do with the neck. It’s basically sound, but until the frets are polished, the fingerboard cleaned and the back of the neck cleaned and flatted, I won’t know if it’s salvageable.
And I have seen a really nice replacement neck online. It would be coming from China, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and the reviews on the site are pretty positive. And if I don’t like it, I’m sure I’ll be able to move it on, so won’t lose a shed load of money.
But the only way to move forward now is to start dismantling and cleaning. Let’s hope there are no horrors lurking under the pickguard…
