A surprising discovery

A big discovery is that our dinner companion on a river  Danube cruise three years ago was an MI5 agent.

We learnt this after her recent death, and today we attended her online funeral , joining many of her friends from across the globe , streamed  live from the church to which she belonged deep in the heart of Surrey
 
Let’s call her A. We knew little about her background, except that she was upper-class English with a degree in Mandarin. She loved traveling, had a brief marriage, decided it wasn't for her, and worked abroad for many years.

When we met, she had just finished breast cancer treatment but was determined to keep traveling.   She was an independent traveller.. She liked it that way because she could better get to know the people and the country.

. She overslept on her first morning of the cruise and missed breakfast.  After that she had an arrangement with M that he would ring her up at 7am.

This 92 years old had a love of life , insatiable curiosity ,and  participated in every excursion.

The big surprise is discovering she was an MI5 agent.
Suddenly all the pieces fitted together.
