Garsington

A late post for yesterday.  We went to the first night of Tchaikovsky's "The Queen of Spades" at Garsington Opera.  It was a stunning performance, such as dark reading of a dramatic Pushkin story.  The only "nice" character in the opera is the one we sponsored, Prince Yeletsky, sung by the gorgeous Roderick Williams :-)

We always turn up as soon as the gates open so that we can explore the gardens and grounds.  This is the edge of the cricket pitch (look at those stripes in the lawn!) with the cricket pavilion on the left, the marquee for interval dining on the right, and the vintage bus waiting to go to the walled garden.
