The line of grey dots you see just above the floor are where my new damp-proof course has been injected into the base of the walls.
They are partly obscured by the pile of plaster I chose to tap off the wall with nothing more ferocious than a plastic kitchen broom. 
This destruction took about 30 spontaneous minutes and was tremendous fun. 
This is the room that used to be that frightful yellow kitchen.
