In bed with Jimi

This is another picture from yesterday's visit to the Handel Hendrix House. Hendrix would  hold court on this bed with interviewers or other music illuminaries sat in the chair at the side. Apparently he and is girl friend, Kathy, used to shop for drapes and spreads to  decorate the flat at the John Lewis department store in nearby Oxford Street. The shawl canopy above the bed is an eery echo of that over Handel's bed in the adjacent property. Handel's bed canopy is designed to mimic a four poster bed. Hard to know whether that was a deliberate artifice or a fashionable style in Handel's time. I listened to the Ascension Day service we attended yesterday evening on BBC Sounds today which reinforced how good the music was, particularly the St Martin's Voices performance of the Anthem, Wake up, Jesus- The Porter's Gate. I was also taken by the two contributions from spoken word poet, Dai Woolridge and the observational and heartfelt sermon given by Rhidian Brook. I had not come across either of these gentlemen before.
