Here and Now

Sensational Day

Starting with a visit to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.  After its 10-year makeover, it's now considered one of the 7 most beautiful museums in the world.  We started indoors viewing the newest version of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon planetarium program set to the music of the whole album.  It was an amazing experience.   It's currently showing in 81 locations worldwide with more being added.  After the show, we strolled around the museum and took in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year winners (from the Natural History Museum, London).  More wows!  We walked the entire outdoor Wildlife Center and Woods Garden, where I captured the eagle blip.  It's a multi-level maze of outdoor homes for a variety of animals including coyotes, fox, birds of prey, fish, otters, etc.

We couldn't leave University Circle without visiting some of our favorite paintings at the Cleveland Museum of Art, not shown due to copyright concerns.  The extra shows the Draped Male Figure, perhaps Marcus Aurelius from about 150 BCE - 200 CE being returned to Turkey after much hoopla, research, and scientific analysis.  Also shown is one of my favorite rooms with suits of armor, etc.

The day was topped off with dinner alfresco at Anatolia's.  The owner Yashar, sat with us for awhile talking about life in Turkey, how he wound up in Cleveland, and his passion:  photography.  He inspired me to take some formal photography classes.

I am woefully behind on posting daily blips. Happy weekend one and all!
