Jammy day
Martin and I travelled the bypass to Corstorphine in the west of the city, where I used to live, to go the the Nationwide branch. There are closer branches to us, but the reason we went is twofold, firstly, we know the staff very well and are on first name terms with them, and secondly, they sell the most amazing home made marmalade for charity, and have done so for years.
What always strikes me, is that this branch is always busy with a variety of customers of all ages, patiently waiting to be served. Yet, me are told, we have to bank online because there is no demand for branches in this modern (open to scammers) world. Yet, I guarantee that every customer who left this bank felt their transaction had been undertaken in a professional as well as friendly manner, happy also to know that there was no possibility of them being potentially scammed.
Sorry to rant, but I get particularly annoyed when banks close branches for the good of the customer, because they want to cut costs and increase profits and dividends to shareholders. I firmly believe that no town over say, 3000 people should be left without a bank or banking hub.
Anyway, enough of my rantings, I’m off to have some community made marmalade.
