Painting the Personal

This afternoon, I visited the studio of painter Karen Strang in Alloa, where she is taking part in Open Studios Clackmannanshire.
Karen needs no introduction to those of us ln Central Scotland for she is hugely prolific, energetic and gifted expressionistic painter whose work covers diverse subjects  from  from en plein landscapes, Scottish witchcraft  trials to her big project during Covid where she painted portraits of 100 NHS key workers which generated wide media coverage and a big exhibition in Glasgow.
 
This painting though is on a much more personal level. After her father's death, creating this work helped her cope with grief and resume to making art.
