The lengths to which………..

……..amateur botanists will go.
Here is Mrs. K  in her wellies standing in a ditch in 4 inches of water up against a cliff face in a disused railway cutting. There is a strong wind and it is just starting to rain.
What is she doing ? She is checking to see if the plants she put here 18 months ago have survived the recent drought.  They only survive if there is a constant trickle of water down the cliff face.
Luckily they have survived and seem to have established a new colony. They are the Native version of Maidenhair Fern. They grow at 5 places in north west England,  a few places on the Welsh coast and a few in Devon and Cornwall.
Mrs. K has been part of a group  who, with all the proper permissions, have managed to establish several new colonies.
