Peonies
A slightly different choice of supermarket flowers this week - romantic pale pink peonies.
The day was divided between beginning the move into the new wardrobes (exciting) and reading some more of the book club novel (weird), which I need to finish by Monday evening for our meeting. It’s called ‘The School for Good Mothers’ by Jessamine Chan, and I’m finding it a strange and uncomfortable read. It has been described as “‘A Handmaid’s Tale’ for the 21st century”, and I would agree that it is equally dystopian. I’m not a mother myself, but as an extremely independent and free-thinking woman I’m just furiously angry whilst reading it.
I spoke to my sister late afternoon, and she’s still nowhere near 100% recovered from being unwell but slowly improving. As usual, I fell asleep on the sofa later and woke up at just gone midnight, having missed most of the TV programme I had been watching.
