Kintsugi
I bought Jo a Kintsugi workshop for her birthday last year and we finally went today.
If you don't know Kintsugi it is the Japanese philosophy of the beauty of imperfection involving putting broken pieces of pottery back together by embracing the cracks using the gold mica powder.
It was clear from the outset that the broken piece of pottery I'd brought from Dad and Jane's house was going to require more skill than I'd got to put it back together, so it remains in pieces.
Instead, like everyone else there, I broke a piece of pottery and then stuck it back together using the techniques., Quite frankly it looks rubbish but I liked the workshop and now have an urge to smear golden mica over all my ceramics.
Glad to see Jo smiling, she's had a tough few months.
