Holding up
I'm in the Netherlands so I get on a bike. I don't know Hoorn because when we used to visit as a family we focussed on playparks, paddling pools and cycle rides to the beach.
I discovered today that it's a lovely town, with herringbone brick streets, an elegant 17th century main square, quiet gardens surrounded by almshouses, a harbour with 90-year-old tall sailing ships, canals, and a huge variety of attractive houses, from those with traditional stepped gables to the distinctly wonky. And, after all that cycling, a cafe serving excellent coffee from a bar made from a reclaimed boat (extra).
