Smoke Bush

I didn't have time for breakfast before getting to the GP surgery by 8am, although still found myself at the end of the queue... perhaps because it's Monday. I was after stronger painkillers, having had a few much worse days leading up to and over the weekend. Unfortunately there were no appointments left by the time I got to the desk, but she said I could have a 9.15am appointment at the Emergency Treatment Centre in town. It was a good job I'd driven because it was 8.40am and there'd be rush hour traffic, breakfast would have to wait. I got there in time and, amazingly, there was a parking space free.

The doctor prescribed Amitriptyline and, because it can take 3 or 4 weeks to work, she's given me Codeine in the meantime.... but finding out about some of the side-effects is making me question whether I want to take either of them - drowsiness and constipation. Talking about slipped discs with a couple at the allotment this afternoon made me realise that I've had no shooting pains down my leg today.. I must be getting better!

After the doctors I drove to Rhian's, took her a couple of egg boxes and received six eggs in return, courtesy of her three rescued barn chooks. I didn't want to sit down so we took her dog for a walk, clocked up a couple of miles and saw several beautiful smoke bushes on the way.

The extra is what I've done at the allotment, covering up the horseradish new growth with old compost bags. Better than nothing until I can bend again.
