Bits And Pieces

Project guitar fully stripped down now. And I’ve already given into temptation and ordered a new neck, just because the eBay seller offered me a reduced price! Still might not use it as I did a bit of cleaning on the original neck and it would probably come up okay. I’ll make a decision when the new one arrives. Which won’t be any time soon because - like so many things nowadays - it’s made in China.
The electrics and hardware could be reused with a lot of cleaning, but the plan was always to upgrade these anyway. I’ll probably stick them on eBay or similar as a job lot of parts - might be able to get a few quid for them.
Which leaves the body. The finish is fairly horrible - thick and with lots of overrun inside the cavities - but I don’t know if this is from the factory or if it’s been resprayed at some point. Buying a new body would negate the whole “take a cheap guitar and upgrade it ethos” so I think it’s going to be out with the heat gun, scraper and sandpaper. Depending on which YouTube video you watch this could be a quick, simple job or involve many hours of blood, sweat, tears and toil. I will no doubt find out in due course…
