Bits and Bobs!

Starling Crêche

The garden is alive with the latest brood of noisy young Starlings, squawking for a feed from their parents. We also had a visit from a juvenile Robin but he was too quick for my camera. I was shocked to learn recently that the average lifespan of a Robin is only 13 months.

Other sad avian news, I found a very young sparrow fledgling hopping about on the back lawn this afternoon, below the Pyracantha where the sparrows nest. It then disappeared to reappear a bit later on the path to the front of the house. Before I could pick it up and return it to the safety of the back garden it hopped under the fence to next door. I do hope the magpies won't find it...

In happier news, a new dishwasher is being delivered tomorrow, thank goodness, though between 7am and 7pm! Of all my chores, washing up ranks right at the bottom.

Lovely sunny day of 18 degrees, perfect weather for spending 2 hours mowing all the lawns. Much better therapy than yesterday's 2 hours of washing up!

Thank you.
