The Hill Garden and Pergola
This afternoon we took MIL to a garden that they used to visit when my husband was a child. It’s a hidden gem between Hampstead Heath and Golders Green and was the dream of William Lever, later Lord Leverhulme, and Thomas Mawson, the celebrated landscape architect.
In the 2024 London in Bloom awards, the Pergola received a Gold Award, while the Hill Garden not only won Gold, but was also named the category winner for Small Park. I had high hopes.
Unfortunately, we hadn’t realised that there would be way too many steps for MIL to cope with and we didn’t get to see much of it at all which was a real shame as it was a lovely day. Luckily there was a pub nearby and we had a nice drink in the garden before catching the bus home.
We had a lovely meal at the local curry house and MIL seemed to enjoy it too, which was good.
