Between showers...
Woke up to the sad and shocking news that one of Lola's litter sisters died last week.
Lexie's owners put a post in the FB group that our friend Carole (Lola's breeder) set up for all the puppy owners to keep in touch. Apparently she'd been absolutely fine, no hint of illness. She'd had a normal day, been her usually bouncy self on her walks, came home, ate supper and when her owners came downstairs the following morning she was gone! Vet says it was a heart attack. I can't begin to imagine how heartbroken they are.
I met my friends Fiona and Janice for lunch. Janice also has one of the litter pups, Lola's brother Ted. She was just as shocked as me at the news as it's been such a healthy litter. Lola will be eight later this month (I can't believe it! The time since we brought that golden bundle of fluff home has flown) and still jumps about like a puppy (dog walkers that D bumps into always assume she's no older than two because of her energy) but it's been a bit of a reminder that time is passing. Lola and Ted will certainly be getting extra cuddles at bedtime this evening.
Despite this sad news we had a lovely lunch and a good catch up. Third month in a row we've actually managed to get together! We struggled to find a mutually agreeable date for next month but finally settled on 31st July. Hopefully by then the summer weather will be back. It was a real mixture today of sunshine and very heavy showers with strong winds and feeling fresh.
David's out singing for his supper tonight and I had hoped to get a few admin tasks out of the way but decided to read instead, which of course meant I dosed off only waking up with Lola barking to get out! Oh well, the best laid plans :-)
Very few blip opportunities today (especially when one forgets to look out for them) so you get a jaunty shot of one of the planters at our front door. The petunias are lovely this year. I might blip the one opposite tomorrow :-)
Note to self - make more effort with your photographs!
