Cabinet Meeting

Today the Westmorland and Furness Council Meeting took place in Sedbergh. We had three questions to ask (submitted by 3 local residents - you can only ask one question each) about the bus service in Sedbergh. Questions must be submitted 3 full days before the meeting and you get a written response. You can’t ask anything else. The council decided to answer the questions together resulting in a very bland and mostly irrelevant response. It’s interesting to note that all the cabinet members seem to like live in areas with excellent bus servics. To help you understand why we are upset, in the response by other council members we were told that there is no point in us continually complaining as there is no money. Sedbergh got no grant from the £1.7million going to Westmorland and Furness from the government to improve transport. This is our Liberal Democrat council in action.
After a very disappointing meeting, I rushed home as I had a WI Committee meeting in the afternoon. At the meeting I was told that 7 people had been left behind at the bus stop today. To put this in context, the next bus is nearly 2 hours later.
