Brutalist architecture...
...in an industrial setting...
Since Pilates was cancelled this morning, I decided we could visit The Hepworth instead - home of Barbara Hepworth's art and sculptures. Built in 2011, it nevertheless echoes the boxy shapes and concrete building materials of the heyday of Brutalism, in the 1950s and 1960s.
The two Hepworth galleries were shut for maintenance, but there are always visiting exhibitions in the remaining galleries. We particularly enjoyed the ceramics of Elizabeth Fritsch - see extras for a bit of both.
( you could see the through to one of the Hepworth displays, but the gallery itself was closed )
