Historical Croome

We've had an interesting educational day at Croome, with a tour of the house arranged by Northleach Historical Society.

The main blip is the greenhouse. I liked the colourful deckchairs. I would have liked to got a more distant shot of them but we were on the wrong side of the ha-ha.

The first extra is a main view of the house. Loads of ox-eye daisies about.

The second extra is a group shot. As you can see you have to be a bit historical to be allowed to join. Mrsfb is hiding, though you might be able to just make out the top of her head.

We had some drama on the tour, which I thought was a bit long (2 hours) and drawn out. Let's be honest, there isn't a lot to see inside the house. Before we got halfway around though one of the group suddenly collapsed and fell flat on his face onto the hard stone floor, his head just missing the stone staircase. He wasn't moving and I think we all feared the worst. First aiders were summoned and an ambulance called. Most of the group moved on to complete the tour, but we were all a bit shaken. I couldn't believe it later as we were finishing our Cornish pasties in the small café when he just walked in, with his wife and a paramedic. She seemed happy with him and left him tucking into a sausage roll. All's well that ends well.

There were lots of super fast barn swallows about too, I managed to get a shot of one in the greenhouse. They were also whizzing about in the church.

Last but not least extra - Greek toes. Apparently only 5% of the world's population has them, mrsfb included. I'm not sure if that means she is in the top 5%, or the bottom 5%. So come on, has anybody else got them, or are you all (normal) Egyptian toed like me. Answers on a postcard please.
