Like father, like son …

Each spring we have a pair of bullfinches visiting our old bird feeder and it is a delight to see them. This week they have been there far more than normal then today, I suddenly noticed, there were three! I had never seen two males together (the female was on a nearby branch) and I realised that the bird on the left was a youngster, it is paler than it’s handsome father and still has a few baby feathers on it’s head, how exciting, we have seen a successful bullfinch fledgling for the first time ever!!
