Another one from my cabinet of curiosities

Two small purses, bags, pouches
They belonged to my mother and were bought for her in 1933 when Hitler had taken over and every schoolkid had to be a member of the „Hitlerjugend“. (Jugend means youth) It was a similar Organisation as the Boy Scouts. The pouches were part of their uniform and could be attached to her belt. The upper one is made from foal leather , the second one is made out of many strips of lizard skin. When she was 11, she was very proud of both, after the war , 12 years later, not so much any more. But they had survived the bombing of Lübeck - probably because she wore them when their house burned down. And after the war she didn’t have much of anything. So she collected buttons in one and sewing things in the other. When I was born, in 1947, the little red one contained still buttons and it was one of the very few „toys“ that I had.
Both are soft like silk now and both hold my button collection…
