Castello di Montebello
Altogether there are three castles in Bellinzona which were built in the 16th century to control the access to the Alpine passes. Castelgrande is the fortress in the city (first extra). The second extra shows Sasso Corbaro on top and Montebello in the middle, pictured from Castelgrande. The castles of Bellinzona with their defensive walls have been an USECO World Heritage Site since 2000.
