Absence
A and I got up at 04:00 this morning, so I could drive her to the airport to catch an early flight to France. On leaving Penicuik we passed a guy walking his dog at 04:30, and the airport access road was surprisingly busy!
Back home, I went to bed, and slept for three hours until 08:40. Then, after breakfast, I walked Django. He was doing his "sitting and not bringing the ball back" routine... until I'd gone out of sight for a few minutes. I responded to a couple of bits of overnight email, and cleaned up a bit more code, before it was time to go into work. There was a seminar by an energy modelling company, and I was hoping to chat to PhD student B. However, I arrived just before the seminar started, it was a waste of time, and B had to leave early to go to the dentist! I spent 30 minutes in the office with the interns, but then decided that I needed to go home to get on with work that И wanted me to do because we want to create a new release of HiGHS, and she's going on holiday next week. However, before Saturday I need to pick up the pair of running shoes that I'd ordered, so I decided that it was better to go into Edinburgh today, so that tomorrow and Friday I can work from home.
This weekend the biggest Turf event in the world is taking place in Edinburgh, and I'd already spotted the avatars of Scandinavian Turfers when I was on the bus. There was a pack of three at Edinburgh Airport and two more in Princes Street gardens! Quite neatly, when I got off the bus I arrived at a zone at the same time as them, and we shared the take. Still with their carry-on luggage, they had been to Edinburgh before, so I welcomed them back.
With my new shoes, I took the bus home, cooked a risotto with the other half of the Italian air-dried pig's cheek. I added dried wild mushrooms, fresh mushrooms, asparagus and peas, and it was just as good as the one I made last week - with almost the same ingredients! On his walk, Django twice stopped after chasing the ball and refused to follow me. Perhaps he's wanting to be stubborn because A is away...
