A day of farewells
I spent a really lovely and relaxing evening with Technophobe and LooseCanon and had a good night's sleep (something I have rarely had in the last few years). Following breakfast we visited a local farm shop for coffee (and maybe something sweet too). Technophobe prepared a tasty early lunch, and I changed into a very bright red dress.
We said our farewells and I drove to Worcester for the funeral of a wonderful friend of 48 years. P joined the diving club shortly after me in 1977. He was a great friend and dive buddy of Clive in particular so it was all very emotional. The invitation said to dress as though we were attending one of his parties, hence the red dress and red high heels (haven't worn heels in years but I drove in sandals and changed my shoes when I arrived). It was the loveliest funeral I have ever been to (if there is such a thing. ) The only thing missing was P and Clive. They'd both have loved it! Four of our diving friends were the pall bearers and that was extremely emotional.
After the ceremony we all went to a beautiful hotel south of Worcester, for afternoon tea. The hotel was previously an abbey and the photo is of one of the corridors.
I saw so many old diving buddies, some of whom I hadn't seen for years.
After more farewells to everyone I drove straight back down to Devon, collecting a very excited Ziggy en route, and was home before 8pm.
A very busy couple of days. Many tears were shed.
My extra is the hotel car park where there were so many Rolls Royces. We couldn't work out who had arrived in them until we saw a sign saying that it was a Rolls Royce convention.
