The famous lodberrie
Firstly, I’m so gratified by your response to yesterday’s puffin shot. It’s an iconic bird for many of you. We’re fortunate to have been in a position to see them on Sumburgh. Thank you for the hearts too.
Not such an iconic shot today, except it may be for affectionados of the detective series Shetlands which we have to admit we’ve not watched yet. It’s of the place where DI Jimmy Perez lived.
We spent to day in Lerwick, the morning in the Museum and the afternoon on a town trail. The museum was exceptional, so much, too much, to see in one go. The displays were clear, interesting and well documented covering every aspect of life in Shetland from prehistoric times to the modern day.
The town trail took us through the old town, harbour front, along the coast to the Clickimin Broch on the edge of town then back through the town to Commercial Street.
The wet morning gave way to a drier afternoon. The wind did not abate all day. It is expected to moderate tomorrow.
When we arrived back at the Airbnb there was a family of oystercatchers with 3 chicks outside the house. Then a squall went through, followed by a rainbow.
