On tour
A check of the various apps showed high winds ahead of us today - so it was on to Plan B which was to stay another night on our mooring in the bay and head off tomorrow.
By chance we spotted some tour boats heading out from the village on shore so booked ourselves on to one, not quite sure where we were going.
We travelled round the rocky coast and in to the estuary of the Dalyan river. First stop was Kaunos ancient ruins from pre Roman times - and I realise had been there before about 15 years ago! We really enjoyed our wandering round, especially as we seemed to be about the only people tehre.
Then back on the boat and up to Dalyan town. We found a nice restaurant on the river side to stop for a drink and some lunch whilst looking out at the river and the tombs carved into the rocks on the hillside. What an amazing spot.
Tour boats whizzed up and down the river and it was quite a contrast to the past few days on our boat.
The final stop on the tour was the mud baths. We weren’t so keen but thought we would take a look. We arrived as a party of young Russian tourists swarmed around the place. We had a very brief look in at the baths and then a swift return to our boat! Not for us!
It was an unexpected day out which we all enjoyed.
