Biodegradable Sun Catcher
Saw a recipe for making a biodegradable sun catcher and decided to give it a try.
The recipe called for cornstarch and I immediately thought “that doesn’t sound very transparent to me” and sure enough it wasn’t!
I then experimented until I got ratios right without using any cornstarch but found there was the problem of the sun catcher being too heavy to hang up. The hole for the ribbon would just tear through even when I lined it with a piece of a straw.
Finally I found the solution was to cut out the inside of a plastic lid, leaving the “ring” as not only my mold but the sun catcher frame.
The sun catcher is good for about 6-8 weeks and then it will get removed from the plastic frame and tossed in the garden to biodegrade.
This afternoon/evening we traveled up to LeGrange to attend the visitation & funeral for Kent’s stepbrother, Jerry Potter, who passed away Monday.
